A comprehensive booklet containing all poems for the AQA English Literature, Paper 2, Power and Conflict section of the GCSE exam. This booklet contains: Power and Conflict poems grouped within themes (war/conflict, nature, power and control). An easy to understand, one sentence summary for each poem. Explanation of the poem’s context and writer’s intentions. A detailed analysis of one quotation. The analysis is bullet pointed, stepped from a simpler analysis to a higher level response. A detailed analysis of one structure or form feature. As above with bullet pointed, stepped analysis. The idea behind creating this is that it offers students comprehensive, detailed analysis for all assessment objectives, with the focus being AO2 - empowering students with the ability to write detailed analysis of two methods, rather than just simply analysing one method. PDF format included in this version. Both PDF and Word Document are available for £4.

Analysis and discussion of a rap by actor Riz Ahmed performed on Jimmy Fallon after the riots in America. Lesson 2 focuses on how writers portray conflict. Analysis of No Bravery by James Blunt and how his personal experiences of war affects his work. Ideal for introducing KS4 or KS3 to the wider concept of conflict before starting the poems themselves.

4 week (3 lessons per week) fully resourced scheme on War Poetry focusing on War Photographer, Exposure and Charge of the Light Brigade. Ideal for introducing the poems to KS3 on a lighter touch. Students are still able to explore the deeper meanings behind the poems. All learning objectives are included within the lessons, along with useful Do Now tasks that are integrated into the scheme, using key vocabulary that students need to succeed. Opportunities for differentiation and stretch and challenge fully incorporated into all lessons, along with AfL opportunities throughout.
